Serum Tryptase

The Serum Tryptase Test measures the level of tryptase, an enzyme released primarily by mast cells during allergic and inflammatory responses. Elevated tryptase levels may be associated with mast cell activation, severe allergic reactions (anaphylaxis), mast cell disorders such as systemic mastocytosis, or other conditions involving excessive mast cell activity. This test is commonly used to evaluate suspected mast cell disorders, investigate unexplained allergic symptoms, and support the assessment of recurrent flushing, hives, itching, or anaphylactic reactions. Results can provide valuable insight into immune system activity and mast cell function.
