The complete blood count (CBC) measures red blood cell amounts, properties and sizes, along with white blood cells and types of white blood cells, and platelets.
Monitoring each of these metrics can provide information on various aspects of health. For instance, anemia can be diagnosed and the type of anemia (and thus the solution) assessed with the help of the CBC. Anemia is a lack of red blood cells, and since these cells deliver oxygen to all of the tissues in the body, anemia can result in numerous health issues like fatigue, poor immunity, weakness, and impaired cognitive function. Fluctuations in the levels of different immune cells can indicate various nutrient deficiencies, stress, infections, and other sources of inflammation, including that of the gut.
